I feel like someone should say to me, “May the Odds Be Ever in Your Favor.” Haha, because right now it feels like I’m preparing myself for the Hunger Games!!
Tomorrow is the day I begin my 90 Day Challenge to Dance Myself Fit. Which means, right now, I’m in strategy mode. Like I mentioned in my previous blog post, in the past I operated as an all-or-nothing person when it came to my health and fitness. But, as I have come to learn, that is not how you create a healthy lifestyle. You can only stay strict for so long. I need to learn how to deal with bumps along the road, because they are inevitably are going to happen. My bumps usually come in the form of cookie dough, French fries, ice cream, naps… haha you know, the good stuff!
So tonight, I’m strategizing. I’ve been doing this “dieting / fitness” thing long enough that I know my usual routine. I seem to have the same “rituals” when I’m preparing to get my butt in gear. Not good rituals I might add. My first ritual I call the last supper. I tell myself, “okay, this is your LAST CHANCE to eat the food you love… so fill up now and say goodbye forever.” I purge my house of the “bad” food. Anyone else been there done that?
My other ritual is coming up with a DO and DON’T LIST. The list usually goes something like this…
-Workout every day for 60 minutes
-Weigh myself every day
-Only drink water
I then binge on motivational quotes and before & after pictures on Pinterest to try and get myself pumped!
Maybe you’ve had similar rituals. But, like I said, I’ve done this enough times now that I know that I can’t operate like that If I want to see results that last more than a few months. I can’t be an all-or-nothing person when it comes to my well-being. Instead of a long list of Yes and Nos, I am going to give myself three basic guidelines (nothing crazy).
-Do a SHiNE Class 4X a week
I have not worked out for more than 30 minutes in I don’t know how long. Telling myself that I need to work out 7 days a week is just plain silly. I want to be realistic.
-Drink ½ of my weight in ounces of water
Daaaaang, that’s a lot of water!!
-Be mindful of my meals
I’m not going to count my calories, macros, or eat only organic food. I’m going to be mindful of what I put in my mouth. Also, I don’t cook. So there’s that!
I have taken my starting measurements (highest I’ve ever been in weight or inches). I’m ready to DO this! Now for a good night sleep so I can start my Dance Myself Fit journey tomorrow!
