I love having a routine. A plan. And when something takes me away from my typical routine, I usually derail all of my progress.
For the past week I have had family staying with me. Of course, I always love when family visits, but my routine is definitely not the same.
I took away a lot from the past week, but to make sure I don't bore you, here are two lessons I learned :)
#1: You do NOT have to wait for a new week to start over! Your next meal is your chance to start fresh and make better decisions. "I'll start on Monday," or "I'll start tomorrow." Haha, well that just doesn't work for me, because tomorrow never comes and Mondays are almost always craaazy.
I saw a quote a while ago saying that if you had one flat tire, you aren't going to go and slash your other three good tires. You're going to go get that one flat tire fixed and continue on with driving. I feel like healthy living is kind of the same. If you slip up at one meal or have an off day, don't derail your whole week, month, or year...start fresh at your next meal or start SHiNiNG the next chance you get!
#2: Don't be so strict on a plan that you can't make adjustments. I've done this before. I was so strict with working out and eating that when my plan was thrown off, I didn't know how to cope. Have a plan for yourself, but learn how to re-plan and re-structure in order to truly succeed. I may not have stuck to my "plan" last week, but you know what, I am getting back on that horse and I'm riding into that SHiNiNG sunset (haha ... terrible comparison).
I can't even begin to tell you how glad that I found a workout plan that I look forward to and that has inspired me to keep going. Totally has brought out a side of me that I have not seen with any other dance program or workout plan! I'm bringing back a part of myself that I have missed for so long... THANK YOU SHiNE!!
Until next time SHiNE Gals... XOXO!!
